About Us

Present and Future:

Andrew Muschamp, Managing Director of our company, grew up with his father Edward in the workshop and amongst the employees on the shop floor.  He gained hands-on experience and knowledge and then pursued his Engineering degree in Florida.

Upon completing his formal training, Andrew returned to Jamaica to expand his horizons and gained experience with Jamaica Broilers' Aquaculture in St. Elizabeth.  He joined the Engineering Maintenance team and for several years providing both managerial and hands-on service in maintaining the fish and shrimp farm's equipment.

Andrew returned to Muschamp Electric to join his father in running the family business.  He is now ably accompanied by Mr. Hugo Broomfield, our trusted Shop Supervisor who has loyally provided excellent service to the business for more than 36 years, especially contributing to the teaching of our growing staff.  Ms. Eunice Foster, Administrative Assistant, continues to be an invaluable employee and support to the business for more than 19 years.

Our staff continues to provide excellent and friendly service.

Our History:

For over 40 years, MUSCHAMP ELECTRIC COMPANY LTD. has served most of Jamaica's industries and built a reputation of reliable service and quality workmanship.  Founded in 1965 by Edward E. Muschamp, the company has a long-standing reputation for training and mentoring young men, many of whom moved on to establish their own similar businesses, thereby adding to the wealth of knowledge found in a select but thriving motor rewinding industry in Jamaica.

Our original  location was in our two-story building on Tudor Avenue in the heart of Mandeville.  In 1981 we moved to our present location at 29 Knowles Crescent, Mandeville, to accommodate a growing staff and much needed work space to improve efficiency.

During our first 10 years of operation we worked primarily for 9 different Sugar factories, and 3 Bauxite companies in Jamaica.  In the late 60's and mid 70's we serviced cargo ships for the West Indies Shipping Cooperation of Trinidad, which required our team to travel to Port of Spain, Trinidad, Barbados, St. Kitts and Antigua; wherever the ships were docked and needed our services.

We also provided services to Grace Kennedy's Shipping Department.  In the mid 80's we also worked for the Belize Sugar Industries and several hotels.

Edward E. Muschamp, (1938-2008) was a pioneer in the electrical motor rewinding business in Jamaica.  Born in Belize, Central America, he  came to Jamaica by boat with two of his co-workers in 1958 intending to spend 1-7 years improving his trade, but instead he fell in love with the country, and the people.  He settled down in Mandeville while working at Alcan as an electrician and earned his diploma, then moved on to start his own business in 1965 providing an apprentice system, from which he had first benefited as a young man.  Muschamp Electric Company Ltd. flourished throughout the years. Edward Muschamp, Eddie as he was fondly known, was a man with a strong backbone, a soft heart, civic minded and full of life.  He gained the respect of and formed lasting friendships with colleagues in the industry where he made his living.  He is remembered as father, grandfather, teacher, leader, a truly hard worker, sailor, politician, preacher, boss and friend.

Edward Muschamp's legacy lives on through his son Andrew, loyal staff and long-standing customer base.
